Loving Rainy Days~
Ok, so normally, days like these cause me to want to curl up on the couch with a fire and a good book or movie, but today turned out unexpectedly productive. I have this real desire to get my house in order and not just in order, but really organized. With a house as big as ours, I always seem to be misplacing something or I put it somewhere and forget later. It’s not lack of organization, but I think I have too many zones. So today, I collectively decided to start downsizing in clutter, things, and zones.
To me there needs to be clear zones. Not too many. For instance, office zone for bill paying, incoming/outgoing mail zone. This is where I put all incoming mail if I can’t get to it right away. Coat and keys zone, a shoe zone (my kids can’t come in the house with their shoes on). All of these zones get used often, but not quite as often as the kitchen. I have lots of storage in my kitchen, but to me it doesn’t seem like enough. So today was Operation Organize in the kitchen. I knew I couldn’t do it all in one day or even a week, but baby steps will get me there. Today I tackled the drawers. I cleaned out three junk drawers and made one a school zone. For those flyers and paperwork you get from your kids daily. All there and in one place. The other drawer I’ve left empty. (Cuz you never know *wink*)
And lastly, I tackled this drawer.
Now, you know you all have one. It’s where all the miscellaneous kitchen gadgets go. Well, I got a new product by Drawer Decor. It is the neatest thing for organizing your drawers.
I was so surprised how well it turned out. I’m sorry this picture doesn’t do it justice, but it’s bright orange, so my camera wasn’t liking it. But if you go to the website you’ll see what I mean. All of your utensils stay in place and do not move!!! A real plus! I have plans to do two more drawers and am anxious to see what other items I can use with these. So stop that procrastinating and get to those drawers. You’d be surprised how many you will get done in a week if you do one every day.
I’m off to eat homemade chili on this awesome rainy day.
Blessings,
Kacy
